OUR STORY
The old saying goes something like this, “If you want to be incredible, surround yourself with incredible people.” You can substitute any adjective you want in the old quote, but the idea remains. If you want success, fulfillment, or just a unique and interesting life, you should associate with people that want those same sentiments. Everyone is unique and special in their own way. It’s more important that you recognize what makes them special and help them bring that trait to the surface. That is the philosophy with which we teach our students. In our Cosmetology, Barbering, Nail, Esthetic, and Instructor programs, we are teaching our students to identify and bring forth that beauty and uniqueness in every one of their clients.
Our Royal School opened on March 1st, 2021. Our students learn through classroom study as well as practical experience performing all salon services for the public. We are very proud to state that every one of our graduates has gone on to pass the state exams and have been fully licensed in their field of instruction.
CHANDRA NIEMERG’S VISION
Chandra Niemerg is the founder, owner, and CEO of the Royal School of Cosmetology, Ltd. She has been a licensed cosmetologist for 30 years.
Chandra was born in Effingham, and it became apparent early in her life that she would choose a career in the beauty industry. In 1990, she received a cosmetology license, and the adventure began.
After graduation, she joined Scruples in their test salon where she travelled the country learning from experts and sharing her skills and passions.
As her career took off, her goals became more in focus. She decided to purchase a building in downtown Effingham and open Chandra’s, a hair and nail salon. As her business continued to grow, she purchased the building next door and also opened a day spa, specializing in treatments such as massage, facials and mud wraps.
Over time, Chandra realized she has one remaining goal to check off her list: starting a cosmetology school. So, it began…a journey that began in her parent’s laundry room over 30 years ago finally led to the fulfillment of a lifelong dream. The Royal School of Cosmetology was born. Now she gets the chance to share her extensive knowledge with students just starting their careers and help guide them to success.
THE HISTORY
The Royal School of Cosmetology is located in the old train station at 401 W National Ave in Effingham. The Station Plaza, as we have renamed it, was a diamond in the rough when we purchased the property. The building in which the school is located sat vacant for over 30 years and was little more than walls and a roof. After extensive remodeling, we have transformed it into a beautiful destination for salon services.
